Over time, Monnify's array of product solutions and APIs has significantly expanded. However, their existing documentation platform, provided by Atlassian Confluence, was deficient in several crucial areas:
Inconsistent Branding: Without Monnify’s distinct branding, the Confluence-operated platform felt like an impersonal, third-party documentation site. This resulted in a discernible lack of trust among developers, who were skeptical about the platform's pioneering nature.
Difficult Navigation: It was challenging for users to find relevant APIs, SDKs, and integration guides due to the Hodgepodge platform structure.
Limited Scalability: As Monnify introduced more protocols, the prior documentation failed to adequately highlight the growing scale of new products and APIs. It became evident that a revamped API console was necessary—a console designed to streamline the integration protocol, authenticate Monnify's branding, and enhance the overall user experience.
In order to address the problems found in the previous Atlassian Confluence documentation, we established a new Monnify Documentation Website that incorporates Monnify's brand. This action served to instill credibility and trust. We methodically restructured the content into clearly defined categories, including collections and disbursements, integrations, among others, and implemented a fixed side navigation for improved accessibility. Moreover, we catered to the needs of developers by adding detailed API descriptors, SDKs, coding examples, and comprehensive guides. We prioritized clarity in the layout, allowing users to effortlessly locate and understand the information they sought. These enhancements culminated in a more unified, brand-oriented, and user-focused platform that better highlights the growing product range of Monnify.
Early-stage, low-resolution layouts were designed to plan the format of the revamped documentation console. Emphasis was on a superior information design, categorizing information under headers like collections, disbursements, wallets, verification APIs, integration mechanisms, and offline transactions. The API reference section was organized for rapid comprehension and more developer-friendly navigation.
DESIGNS
The designs were informed by the wireframe feedback and incorporated Monnify’s visual branding throughout the entire console. This added a layer of professionalism and trust, making the documentation feel like an extension of Monnify’s core product rather than a third-party tool.

When tested with developers, the designs received positive feedback. Developers praised the enhanced branding, which gave them more confidence in the platform, and the improved information architecture that allowed for quicker access to resources.
The new Monnify Documentation Website featured several custom-designed assets to enhance usability and reinforce branding. I designed code snippets from scratch, drawing inspiration from leading platforms like Stripe Docs to ensure they met industry standards and improved readability for developers. Custom illustrations were also created for each product category, effectively visualising Monnify’s features. These assets contributed to better navigation, a seamless user experience, and increased trust for both developers and business owners.
